Antenatal care is a schedule of ordinary visits, spaced closer together as the pregnancy goes on. Most of it is watching rather than treating. The point is to notice early when something needs attention.
What the visits are for
Each visit checks your blood pressure, the baby's growth, and how you are — and gives you a fixed place to ask the things that have been bothering you since the last one. Write them down as they occur to you; nobody remembers them in the room.
You will see the same consultant throughout. Every visit ends with what was found and when to come back, written down.
Bring someone, if you want to
Your husband, mother, sister or a friend is welcome at every visit. A female attendant is present for every examination if you would like one, and you never have to ask twice.
What it costs
| Item | Cost | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Antenatal package | ₹25,000–75,000 | The whole pregnancy — every scheduled visit and the routine scans, from booking to delivery. The birth itself is charged separately. |
| Blood tests | ₹1,500 | The booking set. |
| Additional scans, if needed | ₹1,500 | Only when clinically indicated. |
Charges at Pearl Women's Super Speciality Hospital and IVF/ICSI Center as of September 2026. You are told what anything costs before it is done, and nothing is billed that you have not agreed to.
Questions we are asked most
What should I bring to the first visit?
Any reports you already have, your blood group card if you know it, a list of any medicines you take, and the date of your last period if you remember it. Photo ID if it is your first time at Pearl. Nothing else is essential.
How many scans will I have?
Usually three or four across the pregnancy. More only if there is a specific reason, which we will explain at the time.
Can I ask about the baby's sex?
No, and please do not ask the sonographer either. Prenatal sex determination is a criminal offence in India under the PC&PNDT Act, 1994. We do not do it, and it puts staff in a difficult position to be asked.
