"Mommy makeover" describes a combination of procedures for the changes pregnancy, childbirth and breastfeeding can leave behind. At Pearl it is planned and performed in-house by both consultants, after a full assessment — not chosen from a menu.
What it can include
Depending on your assessment: repair of the vagina, perineum and pelvic floor; labiaplasty; revision of a caesarean or episiotomy scar; and procedures on the abdominal wall and skin. Which parts are combined, and whether in one operation or in stages, is decided with you.
When to have it
Usually once you have finished breastfeeding, your weight has been steady for some months, and you are not planning another pregnancy soon. A later pregnancy can undo much of the result.
Planning it safely
Combining procedures lengthens the operation and adds risk, so we check your general health, blood count and medical history first, and we will advise staging the work where that is safer.
Who performs it
Every procedure in this unit is performed at Pearl by Dr. Jigna Jasoliya and Dr. Hardik Vansjaliya together, with female staff present throughout.
Questions we are asked most
What are the risks?
The risks of each procedure included, plus those of a longer anaesthetic — bleeding, infection, clots, wound problems, scarring, and a result that differs from what you hoped.
How long after delivery should I wait?
Generally at least six months after delivery and after breastfeeding has stopped. We will advise you individually.
Will anyone else know why I came?
No. Consultations in this unit are private, your records are confidential, and the front desk books the visit as a gynaecology consultation. You do not have to explain your reason to anyone but the doctor.
