A thin camera is passed through the cervix to look directly inside the uterus. No cuts are made. It is used for heavy or irregular bleeding, polyps, some fibroids, and as part of a fertility work-up.
What it is used for
Investigating heavy or unusual bleeding, removing polyps and some fibroids, dealing with adhesions inside the cavity, and checking the cavity before fertility treatment. In many cases the same procedure both finds the problem and deals with it.
What to expect
Many hysteroscopies are done under short sedation or general anaesthetic and take fifteen to thirty minutes. You go home the same day. Cramping and light bleeding for a day or two afterwards are normal.
What it costs
| Item | Cost | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Hysteroscopy | ₹10,000–70,000 | A look inside sits at the lower end; removing a polyp or fibroid at the upper. |
| Anaesthesia and theatre | Included | In the quoted figure. |
Charges at Pearl Women's Super Speciality Hospital and IVF/ICSI Center as of September 2026. You are told what anything costs before it is done, and nothing is billed that you have not agreed to.
Questions we are asked most
Will there be any cuts?
No. The camera passes through the cervix, so there is no incision anywhere.
How soon can I go back to normal?
Most people are back to ordinary activity the next day, with some cramping and light bleeding for a day or two.
