ICSI is a step inside an IVF cycle, not a separate treatment. A single sperm is injected directly into each mature egg, rather than leaving egg and sperm to meet in the dish. At Pearl it is used in most cycles and is included in the cycle cost.
How Pearl uses it
Clinics differ on this. Some reserve ICSI for cases where the sperm count, movement or shape is reduced, where sperm was retrieved surgically, or where a previous cycle fertilised poorly. Others use it as their standard method for most cycles.
Pearl uses ICSI as the standard approach in most cycles, and does not charge separately for it — it is part of the cycle cost rather than an add-on. If you have been quoted ICSI as an extra elsewhere, that is a difference in how the clinic prices its work, not necessarily a difference in what you are getting.
If there is a reason not to use ICSI in your case, your consultant will explain it.
What is different for you
Nothing. Every visit, injection, scan and procedure is the same as a standard IVF cycle. ICSI changes what happens in the laboratory, not what happens to you.

Questions we are asked most
Does ICSI cost extra at Pearl?
No. It is included in the cycle cost rather than billed as an add-on, so there is no decision to make about it on cost grounds and nothing appears on your bill afterwards that you were not expecting.
Is ICSI better than ordinary IVF?
For a couple with significantly reduced sperm count or movement, or after a cycle that fertilised poorly, it addresses a specific problem. Where the semen analysis is normal the evidence that it improves the outcome is weaker. Practice differs between clinics, and your consultant will tell you how it applies to your results.
