In IVM, immature eggs are collected with little or no stimulation and matured in the laboratory instead. It avoids the high drug doses of a standard cycle, which matters most for women at real risk of over-responding to them.
Who it may suit
IVM is mainly considered for women with polycystic ovaries who are at high risk of ovarian hyperstimulation, and occasionally where treatment must start urgently. It is a more specialised route than standard IVF and is not suitable for everyone.
If IVM is a reasonable option for you, we will explain how it compares with a carefully managed standard cycle, which is often the better choice.
What it costs

Questions we are asked most
Is IVM better than IVF?
It is different, not better. It uses far fewer drugs, which is a real advantage for some women, and it is a more specialised route. We would only suggest it where there is a clear reason.
